P-565 Platinum Clear Silicone Rubber

$214.95 $895.00

P-565 is a transparent, two-component, addition reaction, platinum catalyzed silicone rubber. It is designed to remain water-clear even after extended exposure to the sun. Although P-565 has very good physical properties for an unfilled system, it is not designed as a mold-making rubber; rather, it is used as the article.

Description

Applications of P-565 Platinum Clear Silicone Rubber

P-565 was developed to make sculptured articles and for special effects applications that demand clarity.

Mixing Instructions

Mix 100 parts by weight of P-565 Base with 10 parts by weight of P-565 Activator in a container that will hold approximately 4 to 5 times the volume being used. Mix thoroughly either by hand or by mechanical mixing. After mixing, place the material in a vacuum chamber capable of 28 to 29 inches of mercury vacuum. The material will expand to approximately quadruple its original volume and then collapse. Maintain the vacuum for an additional 2 to 3 minutes and then remove.

Cure Sensitivity P-565 may have its cure inhibited at the surface. Models that have come in contact with tin catalyzed rubbers (the GI- and XT- Series) may show cure inhibition at the face of the mold. This can usually be prevented by thoroughly cleaning the model with naphtha or methylene chloride, releasing and checking the area by brushing on a small amount of catalyzed P-565 rubber. If the contamination still exists, the model should be cleaned again and a thin film of acrylic or nitrocellulose lacquer or base coat should be applied. This will serve as a barrier coat. Other substrates such as clay containing sulfur or any other sulfur, amine, or tin contaminated materials will cause surface inhibition and in all cases a test should be run as outlined above to determine compatibility.

As the cutting edge teaching facility, Anglers Artistry has to work with the best products and the best partners who care about the industry of taxidermy! Back in 1985 I took the opportunity to attend a 2 week workshop on molding parts un-related to taxidermy and walked away with the new product that would change how I create and, since we started teaching in 1991, how we teach!

I have been so excited to become a distributor for the taxidermy industry and as leader in the teaching of the “HOW-TOO’S” of products for the every day taxidermists it is our partnership with Silicone Inc that will continue to bring new innovations to you the artist!
